Statement for final course work

For the final product of my course work, I did interior design of a street dance studio. The design mainly consists of 4 parts: a cafe in the studio for dancers to have a rest and 3 dance roomes for 3 diffrrant types of street dance- new jazz, poppin and breaking. I tried to make the design of each dance room catar to the style and chadacteristics of the paticular type of dance so as to let the dance learners to have a better understanding of the culture of the dance.

Practice of abstracting

This is a practice on how to abstract a picture.

This was the original picture I chose.

The following are some of my abstracted drawings.

I tried to abstract it into regular shapes.

This one is my favorite as the lines look cute and unteresting.

En... I like the background...

This is composed of several shapes of fans~~

A little similar to the black one.

Flowers are always my favourate.

This is a collection of the photoes I haven taken for the flowers I see in daily life.

Bristlegrass is also beautiful.

All flowers look nice on photoes at any time and any perspective.

They are born to beauties.

Like the feathery feeling~~

A potted flower in my friend's home. The purplr colour gives a sense of secretory and quietness.

Scenes

This is a collection of beautiful and interestinf scenes in daily life.
This was taken when I was on the plane flying from Chinea to Singapore. I was a litttle sad  for the beginning of a new term :(, but the beautiful brighteened me up!

The interior design of a shopping centre at Bugis.
It looks especially nice when I had a bird-view of it.

An upright tree overflowing with vigour somehow shocked me when I saw it.
It grows at a spot chosen by people, but in a way chosen by itself.

Objects

Life is full of beauty and surprises. I am used to bringing a camera ( or more often a handphone) everywhere I go to catch them.
Light on the ceiling at the Graces Camp place also looks graceful~~

Our products during chem laboratory lesson.
The green transparent thing is mine and the blue one is my friend's.
The most interesting chem lab lesson I have ever had:>

Can you see what is special about this glass of tea?
It is said that the tea leaves that can stand upright in the hot water are considered in excellent quality.

Our exhibition for a science competition. We use the reflection and refraction of light to show the water wave. The whole exhibition gives people a sense of aesthetics.

A birthday gift I chose for my friend. As an art student, I can't help choosing something artistic but unpractical :( Luckily, my friend has a good sense of art and likes it a lot :)
A person who is catching art in life is also a kind of art~~

drawing of objets

I spent quite a lot of time practicing sketching as it is the basis of all kinds of drawing.
These are some selected works of sketching of objects.
The eye and the pottery at the back were nicely drawn. But the position of the other container is a little strange- it is like floating in the air?

The skill of drawing tones still needs to be improved: the tones are rough and a little stiff.

In terms of tones, I like this drawing best as the texture of the ceramics is well shown ( the reflections and shadows are nicely done).

The objects are nicely drawn but the background is too weak and that affects the overall effect- lacks of dynamics?
Warning: background is simple but important!!!

Cover for herstory

This is the cover I designed and made for one of my Sec 3 LA assignment-herstory. Our herstory is about the fashion designer, Coco Chanel. All our group members were quite proud of this cover~~ It goes well with the style of Chanel's products, isn't it?

An Arab old man?

I like this one best, especially the hair and beard:)

graffiti on the box

These are the graffiti drawings on 3 sides of a box which was used as the cover of our product for a science competition.
We draw these because we feel that the empty box looks ugly and shabby, so as an art student, I work with my friends and came up with this.
It looks cute and cool, right?

Sec 3 EOY work

For the EOY test, I chose the theme "play". On my drawing, a pair of hands are rotating a magic cube while different kinds of toys are being sucked into the cube.
It was drawn with colour pencil and it was my first time to draw a complete picture using colour pencil.
The colour is a little too pale as due to time constraint, I did not manage to finish colouring completely.

Fashion Design

These are some practice on drawing models.

I came up with 10 designs given the theme of design being patterns of microorganisms. ( Actually I don.t like this theme, maybe a theme about flowers will be more interesting to me.)

I like the fist one a lot as it has a strong sense of stereoscopy. When I designed it, I could imagine a model wearing it walking on the catwalk.

The middle one was delicately designed. Although my teacher said it was too exposing, I felt that was all right if it appeared on a fashione show.

This is my final work for fashion design.
The background may be a little strange~~

I like this one as the model integrates into the backgroung quite well.
